The City Walk project includes construction of a 12’ wide concrete multi-use path parallel to Main Avenue, extending approximately 1.64-miles from 9th Street through the heart of downtown Hickory.

City Walk will serve to enhance the downtown experience for citizens, students, and visitors; encourage economic growth; and provide physical wellness benefits. Proposed features include a new prefabricated pedestrian bridge at 3rd Street, an enhanced signature bridge at 2nd Street, and a new roundabout at 3rd Avenue.

City Walk will also include substantial landscaping, pedestrian lighting, and a fence protecting the public from the Norfolk Southern Railroad line that runs parallel to Main Avenue where applicable.
